Dino Rossi promised Washingtonians in 2004 that he would help small businesses, balance the budget and pledged to do so without raising taxes. In the face of a worsening economy and a $2.5 billion deficit facing our current administration in the next biennium, I like Rossi’s chances at winning this election, as well as keeping his pledge from 2004.
In 2004, Gregoire also spoke about improving our economy without raising taxes. However, her record says otherwise. It consists of increases in spending, the re-introduction of an estate tax, and increases in sin and gas taxes. In 2008, we face a downturn in the economy. Both candidates are again talking about controlling spending and fiscal responsibility. I think I’ll vote for the one who can balance the budget without raising taxes. I’ll be voting for Dino Rossi in November.
