I’m baffled at irrational contempt for Trump, especially regarding the successful careers of his cabinet picks. It only makes sense to have leaders with real world experience instead of elitists attempting to shape America into the utopia they dreamed of back in their college dorm rooms. Most in Obama’s cabinet hven’t had a job outside of government or academia.
When the late Sen. George McGovern retired from a lifetime in politics he purchased a bed and breakfast in Stratford, Connecticut, it went bankrupt within two years, citing the cost of dealing with federal, state and local regulations that were passed with “good intentions” but made life difficult for small businesses.
He later wrote, “I wish that during the years I was in public office I had had this firsthand experience about the difficulties business people face every day. That knowledge would have made me a better U.S. senator and a more understanding presidential contender.”
Read that as “real world experience.” The professional politicians have left us with $20 trillion of debt with no intentions of ever paying it back. Any yutz with two active brain cells knows when you’re borrowing money to pay the interest on the money you already owe, you’ve got big problems. How refreshing it will be to have some grown-ups in charge for a change, because if we don’t get a handle on this debt bad things will happen and no one will be spared.
