A recent letter writer questioned the availability of guns and ammunition to the citizens of the United States based on an article published by the Associated Press on July 3, which stated that the TSA caught 894 people attempting to board aircraft with guns on their person or in their personal belongings. His statement regarding the issue is that “it is long past time to more effectively regulate the number of and types of ammunition that a citizen may own” is a non-sequitur, especially since he provides no cogent argument as to why limiting the types of guns and ammunition available will solve the problem.
Or is it perhaps, that limiting other peoples rights will just make him feel better?
With only 894 offenders out of the approximately 400,000,000 air travelers in the past six months, this is hardly a security epidemic. This is just another story that has been blown out of proportion by the media; to be swallowed hook, line and sinker by the gullible among us.
