Who has represented classified school employees for over 30 years in Snohomish County?
Who sat at the bargaining table in the Arlington School District and helped bring jobs, equitable wages, benefits and apprenticeship training to the district and to the other school districts in Snohomish County? Who negotiated the Early Childhood Education Assistance Program into the Arlington School District? Who helped fight, for 13 years, to bring part-time classified employees into the State Retirement System?
Marian Harrison is that person. She has been affiliated with the Public School Employees of Washington since 1969. In July, she resigned from representing the Public School Employees on the State Retirement Advisory Committee and the Employee Retirement Benefit Board. These positions were Gov. Gary Locke appointments. She only resigned after serving 11 years, because she is running for the Snohomish County Council.
The incumbent in the council seat, as a legislator consistently voted against public schools and this last year voted against expanding ECEAP slots for the children of Snohomish County. As a member of the Public School Employees of Washington, Marian worked to improve conditions for the classified school employees across this state. This work transcended political boundaries and stressed unity for the betterment of all. Communicating with the people, hearing their concerns and letting them help make the decisions vital to our community is paramount, as it was with the Classified School Employees.
Please support and vote for Marian Harrison, an active voice in the community, who has demonstrated that she cares about you.
