Once again Democratic Rep. Jim McDermott was successful in getting the newspaper to highlight the utterly stupid remarks he made regarding the recent capture of Saddam Hussein and how he felt that President Bush timed his capture to help himself and the administration. How convenient for him to have forgotten that when Mr. Clinton was in office he did nothing to stop Osama bin Laden or to try to stop the continued genocide that Saddam Hussein was committing against his own people. Funny though, that since Mr. Bush and Congress made the sweeping changes to allow our law enforcement and intelligence agencies to gather and prosecute terrorist suspects, we have not had a repeat of 9-11!
I don’t recall reading any articles about McDermott making any case against his own party’s administration for turning a blind eye on the terrorist networks that were being put together by these rogue leaders. Other than Mr. Clinton committing more money toward security monitoring, nothing was ever done to ensure that knowledge sharing among all of our intelligence agencies was working and that the American people were protected. Basically, McDermott’s party failed miserably and now has chosen to blame our current president for the problems in place long before he took office.
He is running out of things to criticize Mr. Bush for now that Saddam has been caught. Perhaps now he can go back to blaming him for the recession that his Democratic predecessor created and left him to deal with.
He shouldn’t read the papers or he might see that the recession that was caused by his party is now starting to recover thanks to the tax cuts that his party didn’t want to happen. McDermott is an embarrassment to this state and his party. Do me a big favor next time – stop, think and then speak.
