Unlike many people running for public office, Mike Ashley has a job. He owns and runs a dairy farm, which is a complicated and difficult business today. I’ve noticed that many of the candidates for public office are “retired” or self-employed at obscure businesses, which makes me think they need a job. We need people in office who want to serve because they see and understand the needs of their neighbors. We need people who are like us; who work, who raise children, who need health care, decent schools, less commute time and jobs with job protections. We need people who listen to us and have the courage to take the information they receive and make decisions in the best interests of all of us. We don’t need people who try to please every special interest group – i.e. the Farm Bureau, Freedom County Advocates, big developers – or who want to be in the public spotlight and use these paid positions to advance a political career.
We need quiet leadership. Vote for normalcy. Vote Mike Ashley, County Council.
