After years of reading articles about the progression of golf in the City of Everett, the good, bad and well – the ugly, I am inclined to write my very first letter to the editor. A letter not of complaint, but one of overdue recognition to one of Everett’s finest PGA golf professionals, Tyrone Hardy.
As a PGA golf professional, Tyrone worked at Walter Hall Golf Course for seven years; the first five years as assistant golf pro and the last two years as the head golf professional. During his tenure, he was the vice chairman of the Joe Richer Junior Golf Club, a popular program promoting junior golf. In addition to private golf lessons, he taught the junior golf camps for the City of Everett, all of which he enjoyed thoroughly.
During these years, Tyrone spent countless hours working to improve the course and provide customers a golf experience that was above and beyond their expectations. Be it teaching, committee work or behind the counter, Tyrone immersed himself in every aspect, which he conducted with integrity and commitment. He enjoys working with people and believes that customer service should be the number one priority.
Happy to stay in the background, he thrived on teaching as well as maintaining a pro shop that was welcoming to all. He established many special relationships with the members at Walter Hall as well. Serving on both the Men’s and Women’s Club Tournament Committee’s, he worked tirelessly to provide a unity with members and staff alike. Even after “winning” the Beat The Pro, an annual Men’s club event, members still liked him!
As a dedicated professional, he thoroughly enjoys the game of golf and what it represents. He enjoys the teaching and most importantly, the people. And though he recently left Walter Hall Golf Course, I know many people join me in thanking Tyrone for his efforts, hard work and award winning smile.
