A special thanks to one of our Everett police officers.
Recently I came home from work (after the terrible wind storm), to find the power out in my apartment building. It was so dark in the alcove opening up to my door I couldn’t see my way to even find the door. I was nervous about coming in by myself so decided to go back to my car to wait ‘til the lights came back on. When I got back to my car I saw two Everett police cars in the next block making a traffic stop. I drove up to them, parked my car and walked back to the officers and asked to speak with them. I explained my situation and concern and asked for an escort to my apartment. The lady officer said she’d be more than happy to escort me, and she followed me back to my apartment building. She came inside with me, waited until I had lit my kerosene lamps, and asked if I would be alright before leaving.
I don’t know if I even remembered to thank her. I didn’t get her name. I do want her to know how much her concern and help was appreciated. We do have some truly great people on the Everett police force.JEANIE RUTHRUFF
