Tuesday night a call came to get down to the barn. The flood waters were rising, and help was needed to evacuate about 40 head of horses from a stable in the valley near Snohomish. Highway 9 had been closed off and was blocked, but sheriff’s deputies and local police were letting people in to help move horses and livestock.
I could understand people being there who owned horses at the barn, but there were friends and people I didn’t even know who seemed to be coming out of the woodwork to help get these animals to the fairgrounds and safety. Even the police and sheriff’s deputies were helping load horses and helped load a trailer of hay for the animals before the final vehicle left the barn.
I can’t say how amazing it was to work alongside these fantastic individuals and officers for that short period of time. I want to say thank you for everything you did to help out!
