I read that Patty Murray was made the new chair of the senate budget committee. Normally I would ask what budget? Since the Democrats have failed to present one for over four years. Murray explained that she has seized on the budget resolution as an ideological road map for the kind of government she believes most Americans want.
She says these beliefs are founded on her personal experiences while growing up.
It seems that her family was on food stamps and she and all of he siblings attended college through Pell grants. She mentioned that “today my family would be considered takers not makers.”
When I grew up there was nothing to take, so I guess we were makers and guess what, my parents managed to raise five of us through the grace of God and without government assistance. As teenagers most of us worked after school and summer jobs and both our parents worked all of their lives and never depended on anyone even when my mother, like Murray’s father, was disabled by multiple sclerosis. Because of Murray’s experiences growing up she seems to feel that taxpayers like myself should continue to feed people at the government trough even though many are able to help themselves. I believe in helping people and I do so through charitable donations and volunteer work and of course with my taxes. I don’t believe in helping people who are perfectly able to help themselves. A trait that alludes many in our country today.
It is clear that liberal thinkers like Murray and her party are the reason our country is in such financial difficulty. Her budget calls for more spending, more taxes, never balances and adds over a trillion a year in new deficits. We continue to borrow or print money that we can’t pay back, without regard to the consequences. Thank God my parents didn’t take that approach when we were growing up. Obama, Murray and the Democrats won’t be satisfied until we are like Spain, Greece and Italy and at this rate it won’t take very long.
