Thank you, Kristi O’Harran, for your July 24 column, “Why do we leave seniors in the cold?” I, too, feel the helplessness of being a senior, as many, many others do. I sincerely feel there are only small Band-Aid solutions. Lawmakers who can make a difference seem to be dragging their feet.
I am no longer in my sixties. Due to advancing, crippling arthritis I too have to worry – will I have enough to pay for next month’s rent, utilities, and everything else? Money I put aside for many years for my funeral expenses now goes to pay for what I call necessary “luxuries.”
We can give from this country to immigrants by the thousands, but not much, if any, help goes to our own people.
The only crime I see seniors committing is the same thing other people do worldwide – growing old! Shame on America!
