Ain’t nobody here but us chickens: The Washington coastal city of Hoquiam is considering a change to its ordinances that would limit residents who keep chickens to four hens, banning roosters altogether. One backyard chicken rancher complained: “They’re more worried about chickens than they are drug dealers.”
We agree: We much prefer chickens to drug dealers when we’re planning Sunday supper.
Pret a port: With a few caveats, you can pretty much ignore that old rule about not wearing white after Labor Day. Lighter colors are fine; it’s the fabric and design that should be your main consideration, say fashion designers.
Thank goodness. We’ve grown accustomed to wearing white athletic socks with our sandals.
It’s never boring at the fair: Events at the Evergreen State Fair today include hog calling, a hula hoop contest and the salsa competition.
The salsa taste-off shouldn’t be too hard to find — just follow the sirens to the tent where the judges are breathing fire.
