Shame on The Herald regarding the Nov. 24 article, “Toothaker linked to principal.” It seems the Mukilteo School District and Mr. Toothaker resolved the potential problem of conflict of interest. The agreed upon severance package caused a stir, but Mr. Toothaker’s right to a private, personal life was respected by the school board members, who agreed not to make disparaging remarks against him.
The Herald actually believed the personal e-mail between Toothaker and Tracy Van Winkle was worthy of front page, top billing in the paper! You write you have spent weeks knocking on doors, looking for what? A bigger scoop, maybe some juicy scandal? But the respectful folks “in the know” aren’t providing you any new fuel. Your innuendoes and hints need to stay out of print. Your article was void of new facts. It sounded very petty and snoopy.
