Unbelievable. That is the only way to describe my reaction to the hidden articles regarding the six-month deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln.
My son is currently stationed aboard the Lincoln in your fair city. I subscribed to your newspaper looking forward to the articles about this cruise. I live about 10 miles from Norfolk, Virginia, which is the home of the largest Naval Station in the United States. Whether it is an aircraft carrier, submarine, supply ship, or any other vessel that is going for a six-month deployment, it is front page headline news.
I was looking forward to savoring the issue with a box of tissues, a lot of tears, and the pictures of the Lincoln’s departure knowing my son is a part of history. You can’t even imagine my horror when I had to look for the article, and then no photographs.
I hope that when I am there for the return of the Lincoln, there will be better coverage for these brave sailors.
