For days I anxiously watched The Herald for a report on the Breast Cancer 3-day walk (held Aug. 9-11). Thousands of people, many from this area, were walking in it. Hundreds were breast cancer survivors. The rest just wanted to do something to fight this horrible disease. They did it, walking 20 miles each day, many arriving in Seattle exhausted, with aching bodies and blisters. Thousands of people lined the routes to encourage and cheer them on.
Not The Herald, though. Not a word about the $1.25 million that was given to the Fred Hutchinson Research Center. I’m proud of all the walkers who gave something of themselves, and I’m sad and disappointed that The Herald did not support them.
