My school was shut down because of the coronavirus, as you might know. I am in the fifth grade, and all of this is hard to process. I can’t tell if I like being homeschooled or not. There are definitely some things I miss about school though.
First of all, I miss my teacher. I am lucky to have a really nice teacher this year and I miss her. She was really good at reading to us and was kind and understanding.
Next, I miss my friends. I am lucky to have a next door neighbor who is my best friend but I can’t even see her! It was bad enough that my other best friend moved schools last year. Now I just resort to FaceTime with them.
Next, I miss safety patrol. I am in safety patrol which means I help people cross the street and make sure no little kids run across the road. I enjoy doing that but a bad part is that our patrol field trip to Wild Waves will most likely be canceled.
I miss field trips. So far in the year we haven’t had any field trips at all. We were going to go to a stream where salmon spawn, a courthouse and an overnight camp. I am really bummed out about missing that.
I miss eating lunch with my friends. This may seem like a silly thing to be sad about, but I miss the games we would play or the inside jokes we would have. Every single day something would happen that would make us laugh our heads off. Anyways, stay safe, wash your hands, and remember, toilet paper won’t save you.
