The Daily Herald provides an essential service, providing information about local issues, events, and much more. Local news is essential to democracy and quality of life in our area!
So I am very sorry to see the current plan is to use the post office to deliver the print edition. In September this change was made to my service. Fail! The first paper that was to be delivered was the Sept. 9 edition: It arrived on Sept. 19.
I am lucky if I get mail delivery three times a week, and often in the evening when it comes at all. The post office is in failure mode.
My recommendation? Switch back to afternoon publication and delivery. It will be a heck of a lot easier to find delivery people and it’s just not critical to publish in the morning. With radio, television and the internet, no one is relying on the newspaper for up-to-the-minute reporting any more.
The current plan won’t survive a year and the Herald may not either. And that would be a tragedy.
