Herald writer explained lawn bowling well

I hope readers of The Herald realize what a not-so-hidden gem they have in sportswriter Nick Patterson, and let me explain why. My wife is Australian, and my father-in-law is an avid, and quite accomplished, lawn bowler. Yet despite 25 years of visiting the Down Under and numerous conversations with him, I still didn’t understand what the heck that sport is all about. Finally, Nick’s Sunday column, “The obscure sport of lawn bowling is a hidden gem,” explained the hows and whys of this strange but popular pastime as it’s played by local residents.

Good on ya, mate, and could you put together some additional columns in the future on cricket, Rugby Union and Aussie Rules? I’d be most appreciative.
