It was with unbridled glee that I read Wednesday’s story on the front page of the Herald regarding Mayor Ray Stephanson and company’s new initiatives for combating street nuisance. It was so overflowing with common sense that I had to look out my window in order to see a 30-year-old man with a beard and no shirt riding down the street with a backpack on a BMX bicycle meant for a 12-year-old, to know that I was still in Everett. However, I’m more optimistic about still being in Everett than I have been for a long time and I want to thank the mayor and all those who have helped him to work on these excellent ideas in order to make going to the grocery store feel safe again, while at the same time getting homeless people the help they deserve if they’re willing to accept it.
