“American Idol” loves controversy. Earlier this year it was that glassy look in Paula Abdul’s eye and contestant Antonella Barba blowing her big chance. Right now it’s the sensation that is Sanjaya Malakar (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/03/29/100wir_a2sanjaya001.cfm?refresh=yes).
The faux-mohawked boy from Federal Way keeps coming back, no matter how terrible he is or how badly he butchers one of Diana Ross’ songs (the lady can do that just fine herself, thank you). He’s become the hero of the anti-“Idol” world and Web sites such as
votefortheworst.com.
Critics are appalled at the thought that Sanjaya just might win this thing and ruin the show’s “credibility.” But they’re way off. If the show was worried about that, it would have rigged things last year to keep Taylor Hicks from winning.
Sorry, ladies, the world’s tallest man is off the market. The 7-foot-9 Chinese man has married a 5-foot-6 woman (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/03/29/100wir_a2tallest001.cfm?refresh=yes). It just might be the perfect match. Even standing next to each other, they’re too far away to hear any nagging.
Yahoo is giving users unlimited e-mail storage (http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/07/03/29/100bus_yahoo001.cfm?refresh=yes). This is great news for pack rats. We’re getting an account just to have a place to archive our infinite Viagra and Cialis spam. It could be enough to make Yahoo blink.
