Hiatt Watson will protect way of life

As a rule, I don’t normally write letters to the editor about politics, or politicians, but in this case I have to make an exception. After our last presidential election, which was based on “change,” I started thinking about “change” on a more local level, because it has to start from the bottom and move up.

Being a Snohomish County resident for most of my life, there are things I really love about our little section of the country. Small towns, small communities, lush green farmland, and miles of wide open country to be enjoyed from within 30 minutes of almost anywhere you live in Puget Sound. This is something that I really don’t want to see “change.”

After checking out our candidates for Snohomish County Council, and their track records, I’m backing Ellen Hiatt Watson. She is a home-grown Snohomish County native who wants to preserve the way of life I love, rather than sell it off to the highest bidder/developer, and has fought tooth and nail for it.

Her opponent, John Koster, however, has tried to take away our farmland, protected wetlands, and has in my opinion sold out to “big development,” along with quite a few others. To be honest, I don’t need a car lot crowding out me and my kids’ fishing hole.

Do your homework before you vote. Vote smart, not blind, and let’s see “change” start to work.
