Usually when you hear about the death of a famous person, you feel for the family and their loss. In the case of George Carlin, I actually felt sad that he was gone. He was like an uncle who had an opinion about everything and everybody. No subject was off limits to Mr. Carlin, including religion, sex, death, relationships and my favorite — American materialism. Whether you loved or hated him, you had to respect him for being brutally honest about what he believed in. There will never be a comedian quite like him ever again. He always made you think about life and how screwed up the world could be sometimes.
“Have you ever noticed that anyone driving slower then you is an idiot, and anyone driving faster then you is a maniac?” is a classic example of how Carlin’s comedy relates to everyday life and how true and simple his comedy could be sometimes. For all of us who had a love for George Carlin’s comedy he will be missed. The next time an impatient person tells you that he doesn’t have all day, you can think of George and wonder how can that be. How can you not have all day?
