The Feb. 11 letter to the editor by Don Everest, “Historic association is out of control,” has some incorrect information.
I served as chairman on the committee responsible for the bridge lights. The committee decided to replace worn out incandescent lights with long-life LED lighting. We spent a lot of time getting the best price for these lights.
Mr. Everest stated we spent $10,000 for the lights when costs were actually $7,787.33. He stated we have spent thousands repairing the lights when we actually spent $538.50. These figures are all public record.
No board members were kicked off the board for objecting about the bridge lights.
Last, any volunteer board of any organization that doesn’t have liability insurance would be crazy with all the lawsuit lunatics out there.
The HDS is striving to make downtown a better place for our customers and store owners. It takes time and effort by volunteers. Let’s all work together rather than against each other to make Snohomish a better place for everyone.
