$ilver and gold: Many of us will break out the Christmas decorations this weekend — or head to the store for a fresh supply of tinsel. Smart shoppers will avoid draining the grocery budget for holiday bling.
Budget holiday decorations sure have come along way. Today we’re stringing energy-efficient LED lights on Christmas trees. Forty years ago, we made festive silver paper chains out of the foil wrappers in Mom’s cigarette packages.
Pedal to the metal: A traffic camera on a Tacoma street snapped photos of about 2,100 speeding cars during its first week of service.
Why the rampant speeding? Well, here’s a possible explanation: The street is a main route for motorists leaving Tacoma.
Or just look out the window: A new Web service tells you whether you’ll need an umbrella.
Depending on the weather, the site responds “Yes,” “No” or, for inquiries from Western Washington in February, “What do you think?”
The Buzz will hold off until the app is upgraded to give you a reminder jolt when you walk out the door without your umbrella.
