I used to love going to the Everett Public Library when I was younger. It was a peaceful place where one could go to learn or just relax.
Fast forward five years and the library has become the hub for homeless activity. I went there recently and there were dozens of sketchy looking people congregated outside. There was a pool of urine at the bottom of the stairs to the parking garage. When I went to the bathroom, some guy was in the stall with all his clothes hanging over the edge. Another guy was standing by the door watching me use the urinal which was extremely awkward.
Upstairs in the library was pretty normal. I was able to do my research in peace. As I headed back down to the ground floor though, a man was running around, yelling about his duffle bag being taken. “Where is my duffle bag?? KIMMMM Where is my bag? Everything I own is in that bag! Where the F—- is my bag!!” Mothers were grabbing their children in fear. These people need to be banished from the library. They’re completely ruining the atmosphere with their drunken nonsense.
I propose a no-bags and no-loitering policy that can be enforced at the discretion of library staff. That way taxpayers will be left alone and the troublemakers will be removed from the premises.
