An estimated 120,000 Washingtonians are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease; and nearly 300,000 family members in our state are supporting a loved one with dementia. It is vital that we create awareness of Alzheimer’s and engage more of our community members in providing support to individuals and families impacted by this disease.
During National Volunteer Month, the Alzheimer’s Association Washington State Chapter is proud to spotlight the incredible contributions of our local volunteers. Last year, over 500 volunteers contributed more than 12,000 hours of service to their local communities, valued at approximately $350,000.
As a voluntary health organization, we rely on volunteers to deliver local programs and services, raise funds and awareness, and advocate for state and federal policies to help families facing dementia. Our work would simply not be possible without their generous support.
To our volunteers in and around Snohomish County: We honor and appreciate you. Thank you for all you do to move our mission forward.
The Alzheimer’s Association Washington State Chapter is based in Lynnwood. To learn more about local volunteer opportunities, please go to alzwa.org/volunteer or call 800-272-3900.
