While there is much in the news about the uncertain economy, East Snohomish County is fortunate to experience continuing growth with new families moving to the area. People choose our communities for the beautiful surroundings, strong schools and quality local healthcare. This helps local businesses attract new employees and continue to thrive.
Valley General plays a key role in keeping our local economy healthy as well as our residents. Valley General Hospital is East County’s fourth largest employer with over 425 full-time and part-time staff. Construction of the new expanded facility will stimulate our local economy as demands for goods and services grow. Valley General Hospital’s expansion will offer about 80 new jobs once the facility is complete in 2005. A group of physicians is planning to build and finance their own medical office building next to the hospital, demonstrating their commitment to having a lasting presence in our community.
This year the chamber awarded the Ed Utterbeck Community Vitalization award to Valley General Hospital for its efforts to be a part of our community and for its contributions to our area’s economic well-being. We need Valley General for our future, and they need us for theirs. Please give them your support on Sept. 17.
