Regarding the article, “Complexity for carpoolers when toll lanes come to I-405”: Years ago, the WSDOT confiscated the far-left freeway lanes to encourage commuters to carpool. Now I see that those lanes on I-405 will be open to anyone willing to pay a toll, and everyone who uses the lanes will need to install a transponder to be tracked by WSDOT. So the truth emerges. Carpool lanes are not really to encourage carpools and lessen traffic. They are just another fundraising device on a road that has been paid for long ago.
Of course, government officials are smart enough not to put these stupid measures up for public vote because they would never pass. We just have to deal with another level of irritation from these parasites.
