How can Herald continue with much smaller staff?

I am stunned by the news in Thursday’s Herald regarding the significant cuts to newsroom staff. Although I am sometimes disappointed by The Herald, I have stuck with it as I do believe a local community newspaper is vital.

I have also supported the Journalism funds to focus on specific areas. It is hard to imagine how The Herald will continue to cover the county in any significant way with this huge reduction in news staff. I can’t believe I just renewed my subscription for a year, though I will probably stick with The Herald hoping that somehow it continues to create original newswriting that covers all communities in Snohomish County.
