I understand the overcrowding at some area schools is a problem but I have a couple of questions. You see, the schools identify what they think are problems and then look around and ask, “Where will the money come from?”
My question is, when they undertake this process and decide to present a gigantic tax package to us (the pitiful taxpayers), do any of them ever stop to ask where the taxpayers are supposed to come up with the money? Should we accept the old sales pitch that it will only cost us so much per day? The increase they are asking for is, by itself, alarming. But I notice that your endorsements never add up what is already on the books in terms of property taxes the poor homeowner has to cough up every year. It’s appalling! And they want more and more every year. How much is enough?
Let’s look at what Snohomish County taxpayers are looking at this year alone. Higher taxes for the RTA and now they want even more for the RTID to the tune of approximately $400 or so per year as a minimum. The state wants to raise new taxes including that genius Ron Sims who, if elected, wants to institute a state income tax. There is the proposal for an increase in the sales tax by 1 cent on the dollar “for the schools.” And the Snohomish and Edmonds school districts want to scam some more cash from us on top of all of that. Where does it stop? Will they only be satisfied when they simply take all of our income and property and smugly decide what we need to live on?
I say no, no, no! Stay out of my pocket this year.
