Are any other Herald readers appalled at the sheer arrogance of the editorial board’s demand that the House robotically rubber-stamp the Senate’s Obamacare law? (Wednesday editorial, “Alternative is unacceptable.”)
The editorial proclaims that no alternative is acceptable. Oh, really?
So the House should simply swallow whole “the Louisiana Purchase”? The “cornhusker bonus,” the “Gator Aid” and the hundreds of other Senate sleazy secret deals, adding not one sentence of sanity?
The Herald editorial board says no alternative is acceptable … just take their word for it … because they haven’t actually read the 2,700-page Senate bill. Nobody has. Nancy, Harry and The Gang say no alternative is acceptable; that’s good enough for your wise and caring editorial board.
What is known about the Senate’s version is that it takes over 1/6th of the U.S. economy, bankrupts the Treasury, steals $400 billion from Medicare, dramatically raises health costs in the near run and forever expunges the basic right of individual Americans to just be left alone.
Memo to the editorial board: this monstrous boondoggle is what’s unacceptable (and a solid majority of Snohomish County residents knows it).
