We are weary of trying to bail out our state. How much does this state need to effectively administer state expenses? The answer is obviously “an unlimited amount,” taken from the pockets of the average resident. We have one of the highest sales tax rates in the country, along with one of the highest property tax rates. Then we have all the “sin” taxes, telephone taxes, personal property taxes, tolls, licenses, fees, etc., etc. The list goes on and on. Where is all the money going?
After fully reading Initiative 1631, we are amazed that anyone would actually vote for this measure. It is a hole that citizens will keep throwing money in, with no end to increases and no answers as to where and how the funds are to be spent. If history repeats itself, this initiative will only create more state bureaucracy and the money will never be enough to clean our air. We are all for clean air, but we need a better plan, not this poorly written initiative.
Seniors are expected to live on the funds we receive, with no promised increases. It’s too bad the state can’t do the same. The average citizen is being taxed out of this state. Only the rich can afford to ‘live’ here; the rest of us just survive, if that. We, personally, are not quite penniless or homeless yet, but politicians are trying to drive us there. It’s a crying shame.
