If The Herald’s story about the PUD paying a consultant $750,000 over the past two years is true, only two words can summarize it: fraud and incompetence. Why was a consultant hired in the first place? If the customer service manager couldn’t do the job correctly, they should have been replaced that person with someone that could.
If the PUD general manager doesn’t understand that, he should be replaced. And what about the elected PUD commissioners that were not aware $750,000 was being spent to cover incompetent management – $750,000 so that a consultant could fly first class, live in the Alexis Hotel and eat at Candlis while Snohomish County residents were living in the cold and paying the highest utility rates in the state. Those commissioners should be charged with criminal negligence.
