I’m not married to the idea of the gas tax, but we have to pay for the upkeep of our crumbling infrastructure somehow. So far, I haven’t seen any alternate proposals from opponents of I-912. What’s the plan? State income tax? Higher sales tax? Let the roads crumble? Cut funding from education? Go to an all volunteer fire department?
No one likes to pay taxes, but a mature decision-making process requires more than just stubbornly stomping your feet and refusing to pay for necessities. If you don’t want to pay more for gas (and I don’t blame you), then what would you rather do instead?
