I am a fan of bull riding on TV and until Dec. 6 I had never been to a live bull riding event. What I expected was a fun evening seeing bull riding in person. What I didn’t expect (nor was it advertised) is that one of the sponsors of the event from a religious organization would have everyone bow their heads and pray prior to the start.
Now, I don’t have any bias toward any religion, but I also don’t expect to go to public events and have religion and prayer forced upon me. If I’m expected to be a praying bull fan then you can count me out. I won’t go again. I’ll stick to TV viewing. Should I now expect or question whether other public events will start off with a prayer – like opera, hockey, baseball, ice skating, etc.?
