In answer to Tami Monkman’s Sept. 25 letter where she asks us to shun violence (“Attack on America: We are still free to shun violence”):
There were a few Ms. Monkmans in Hitler’s time and thanks to people of another view, Ms. Monkman is a free person and can write her letter to a free newspaper.
The despots of the world feed on the Ms. Monkmans of the world.
I, myself, could not sleep at night with her viewpoint, knowing this only leads to more killing as it encourages our enemy to do even greater crimes against the innocent. It’s an easy thing to say, “I’ll turn the other cheek,” but at whose cost when you’re in the building or at a baseball game that an “Osama bin Laden” blows up? I say get him first, so that others may live.
