I’m off to join the circus

I’m running away to join the circus! If your kid is threatening you with such a plan, now there’s somewhere you could actually send them. And don’t look like you haven’t thought of it. In fact, as a parent, it’s perfectly normal to have imagined whether a circus or zoo would take your child — especially on days when if feels as if you’re living with a real, live monkey.

Drink up! Today’s paper offers a glass-half-empty view of sweet, flavored drinks.

First, Dr. Elizabeth Smoots explains that if you want to lose weight, you need to stop drinking so many calories. She explains that advice to drink more means more water. You remember, that clear stuff? No, not vodka. That’s not the same at all.

Second, a pediatrician says an important key to healthy living is to not give kids soda pop. That’s probably also good advice if you don’t want your kid to turn into a real, live monkey.

Third, Japan has a new drink for sale, Surging Eel. Yup, it’s what it sounds like. It’s made with eels. The Japanese believe it’s good for keeping cool in the summer. We think it sounds good for a gag gift. Or maybe just for gagging.
