This letter is not to criticize anyone’s view on hunting, but merely a response to the Monday letter written to the editor regarding the picture of Dan Frohning with the dead deer. The story was written to honor a young person’s life, a young person who hunted, and who died hunting. It would have been unfitting to put a picture of him doing anything else. He died doing what he loved, with people he loved. I can understand how some who don’t hunt may have found the picture disturbing, but those of us who knew and loved Dan, found the picture perfect. He will be missed, and I am proud to say that the picture printed on the front page of your newspaper brings happy memories to me, not “horrifying, sickening” ones.
So thank you for printing a real story, with a real picture, of a young man who died doing what he loved.
