For those local residents who are unsure of the impacts of the Wal-Mart factor, go to www.walmartwatch.org for community impact information and related critical issues. The pro-Walmart letters as published are little more than talking points orchestrated by a public relations firm committed to damage control.
To the Sultan CPA who is tired of shopping in Everett — support local businesses and keep the money here. As a CPA you should know better. Walmart takes your money and ships it far away, never to be seen again (unless you consider insufficient part-time wages to cover basic necessities a benefit to the community).
To the Gold Bar supporter/letter writer — check your “beliefs” with the above website and be glad you live in Gold Bar when the traffic jam brings Monroe to a halt.
In any case, I hope you shop locally when Wal-Mart sends you the check for your support.
