Important emphasis on kids’ oral health

Thank you very much for the fine article by Sharon Salyer about early dental care for our WIC clients at Snohomish Health District (Aug. 11, “Teaching kids good dental habits“).

We would like to clarify that this service is available only at the Health District WIC sites in Everett (425-339-5303) and Lynnwood (425-258-8400); no other sites in Snohomish County. Your readers may be interested to know that the Health District also is applying an “ABCD” grant to encourage greater participation by Snohomish County dental providers in extending services to Medicaid-eligible children, ages birth through 5 years. This is a separate program from our WIC pilot program.

Ms. Salyer has helped raise community awareness on many health-care access issues in the past, and we are delighted that her most recent coverage highlighted access to oral health care.
