An informative, well-written article regarding teen moms appeared in the June 24 Herald (Plenty of help available for pregnancy, childbirth.)” However, there are a few facts the writer may not be aware of but would be of interest to readers.
The article mentions the services provided by Planned Parenthood but failed to say that they also perform abortions on minors – and parental notification is not required. In fact, they oppose any legislation that would place restrictions on abortion, including parental notification and partial birth abortion. Parents especially should be informed of these facts.
The article also failed to report that Planned Parenthood receives government grants. According to their 2002 tax return (which is public), that year alone P.P. of Western Washington received over $4 million in grants – our money!
