Regarding the article, “Kalakala to be scrapped; end of iconic Puget Sound ferry”: Scrap it? Washington State dropped the “boat.” Ferries are an icon of Puget Sound. Hence the reason for its feature of the Kalakala at the Seattle World’s Fair in 1962, with the theme, “Future is Now” — a once in a lifetime event in Seattle.
Whom was the jackass that sold this piece of maritime heritage to Alaska for a fish processor?
The state of Washington was out of touch on that process. They should work very hard to preserve special moments of in our life and history. Preservation and stewardship of our gifts in all forms. Land and water. Please do not sell our country for the short-term profit, to die in decay like the Kalakala.
