‘Improvements’ hurt seniors

This is in regard to Community Transit’s so-called improvement in routes. It seems to be causing a lot of problems for seniors and the handicapped. I know from personal experience the problems these changes have caused.

I live at the Stillaguamish Apartments in Smokey Point. With the changes from the 210 route to the new 201 route, residents (and those using the senior center) no longer are able to go from here to the Smokey Point transit station to transfer for Arlington and Stanwood. They now have to bus or walk eight blocks and wait on Smokey Point Boulevard to transfer for the Arlington and Stanwood buses. Not only is this a busy traffic street – there is no bench or shelter. Those coming from Stanwood and Arlington wishing to go to the senior center have to walk from the transit center, cross Smokey Point Boulevard – and once again stand out waiting.

Also, the 201 no longer stops by Rite Aid – one has to get off three blocks north – and returning to the apartments, walk back three blocks cross Smokey Point Boulevard and wait.

There are residents of the apartments and members of the center that use Arlington and Stanwood doctors. And many who shop at Rite Aid.

I find it hard to believe that anyone could think Route 201 is more beneficial to the senior citizens.
