I am writing concerning what I feel is over-assessment on my property. I have written to the county prosecuting attorney, but have received no reply.
I bought a lot here in 1978, for $10,500. It’s under 7,000 square feet, has no sidewalks, curbing or gutters. By 1993, the assessment had gone to $17,500, in 1993 it went to $42,000; by 1997 to $45,000. Recently I received notice it was going to $68,000.
The home on this is assessed at double what I paid for it, even though it’s 23 years old. I feel these figures are grossly unfair.
Maybe we need the recall of our assessor, or perhaps a tax revolt.
