It’s still five months until we get to pull the lever for our next president. I’m already sick of all the negative ads on TV. Then I open the Herald opinion section and get bombarded again. Yet, as I read all the letters to the editor regarding which politician is the best choice, which party would serve us best, etc., ad nauseum, it becomes painfully clear why this country is in the shape it is today. Most of these armchair politicians would follow “their guy” over a cliff before they admitted that both parties have been selling us down the road. I guess it has just become a habit for them to vote party rather than person.
For as long as I can remember, both of the major parties promise lower taxes and less spending. For as long as I can remember, regardless of the party in power, we have been getting higher taxes and more spending. But the blind sheeple just ignorantly follow without any real knowledge of what they speak. Personally, I think anyone who would vote for an incumbent regardless of party is foolish beyond compare.
We keep electing the same people that are the part of the problem for decades on end. Someone once said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result. I don’t know which is worse, the fools that keep getting elected or the multitude of fools that keep voting for them.
