John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin to be his running mate is a tribute to real women. As a former Alaska resident, I am acquainted with Gov. Palin. Unlike Kay Bailey Hutchison, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer, who have been successful thanks to their husbands’ cash or political connections, Sarah Palin has gotten where she is by her own talent and hard work.
Despite her success, she has remained committed to her family, her faith and the promises she made to the people she governs. In many ways, she is “every woman.” She understands women’s issues because she has lived them!
One may not agree with her on some of the issues, but her nomination to be vice president of the United States is a tribute to every hardworking, independent woman who has made it on her own.
