As a former state senator, I understand the importance of listening to the people we serve and doing a thorough job of planning. As a community hospital, Valley General is doing just that in their efforts to inform and involve the residents of east county in the need for expansion.
The community is already benefiting from the hospital’s responsiveness to a healthcare need in opening a well-child clinic for low-income families who do not have local access to care. As a result of what the hospital heard as they were out talking with local residents this past year, they are moving ahead to create a small outpatient chemotherapy service this fall. Cancer services will grow along with the expansion.
Valley General is involving the community in assuring that quality health care services will continue to meet the growing needs of east county. The hospital is using thorough research so that the expansion will create a faclity that will serve well into the future. Responsiveness, accountability and quality services – we in East County deserve to have that in our local hospital, and Valley General is doing the job.
