I am amazed on a daily basis at the intense activity surrounding the Feb. 17 change to digital TV.
We have phone banks, info shows, and it is mentioned almost daily on the television news. Big ads are in the newspaper. Now President-elect Obama is suggesting that the date be pushed back because not everyone can get the $40 coupons that they are apparently entitled to.
Now I enjoy TV as much as, and maybe more, than the next guy, but this is ridiculous. If people cannot figure out how to continue receiving broadcasts before Feb. 17, then too bad. It’s just TV. Nobody gets this excited at the prospect of people losing, or doing without, say, health coverage. Where are the $40 coupons for going to the doctor? Where are the phone banks with information on what to do if you are sick with no money and no doctor who will take you without money or insurance? Of couse there is the already over-burdened emergency room solution, but I digress. Let’s get our priorities straight, people.
