It all comes down to management style

The following is an unsolicited comment regarding the proposed change in the form of government in Marysville from mayor-council to city manager-council. This happens when a group of residents becomes dissatisfied with the mayor because of one or more reasons – such as a proposed ordinance or expressing an opinion that they do not agree with.

In Marysville’s case, Mayor Dave Weiser’s judgment on the way a confidential and, possibly, criminal matter was handled. Mayor Weiser could not disclose the investigation. Some were unhappy with what happened after the election, but I fail to see the justification to change the government form. The buzz words, leadership and accountability are always in front of any discussion when, for most of us, it is really management style.

I have served on boards with Mayor Weiser and have always found Dave to be a caring leader for Marysville and th cities of Snohomish County.

I do not believe the city will save money by changing to a city manager and I believe the informed voter will see through this issue and retain the mayor-council form as this is where the voter has the power of influence in an election year.
