It is not that easy to buy a gun

Regarding the letter, “GOP a danger to the United States”: I’m sick of those who keep telling us how easy it is to buy a gun. The letter says anybody can buy a military assault weapon, which is a total lie. Recently, as a guest on TV, Mark Kelly, former astronaut, husband of Gabby Gifford, claims anyone can walk into a gun dealer and walk out with a weapon, which is total nonsense.

I am a holder of a carry permit and recently went to Cabela’s to purchase a hand gun for home protection. I had previously gone through a five-day waiting period to get my original permit, but still had to wait for a background check. It took almost two hours to get permission to buy the gun. This lie that any one can just walk in and walk out with a weapon with out a background check is just that a lie.

Remember the shooter in Orlando bought his guns legally. When will liberals wake up and realize this is not a gun problem but an radical Islamic problem?

FILE — Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speaks alongside President Donald Trump during an event announcing a drug pricing deal with Pfizer in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, Sept. 30, 2025. Advisers to Kennedy appear poised to make consequential changes to the childhood vaccination schedule, delaying a shot that is routinely administered to newborns and discussing big changes to when or how other childhood immunizations are given.
